Mayor Idogawa said "numbers of people in town asked me not to resign". On the other hand, Kiyoshi Sasaki, Chairman of the Municipal Assembly criticised the Mayor that "he had hardly any conversations with the people of town who still face hard times living in their temporary houses although I had insisted him numerous times to listen to their voices".
The town's next election will be held within 40 days. The Election Administration Commission will announce the schedule of the election in early January. The number of the seats in the assembly is eight. If the new Municipal Assembly passes another no-confidence motion against Mayor Idogawa, he will automatically resign.
Susumu Yauchi, who is 72 years old and evacuated to Fomer-Kisai High School Saitama where the town's office currently locates, supports the Mayor saying that "I don't think he should resign because I know he is doing his best" while expressing disapproval with the Municipal Assembly stating that "I wish the Municipal Assembly to co-operate with our Mayor and work for the residents".
